Inspired by the 2012 Instagram riots in Gothenburg, the series explores friendship, social media, bullying and how seemingly small actions can have major consequences. I play Maryam (leading role), a teenage girl who hears a story about a girl in her class and posts it online, triggering a chain of events that quickly escalates and affects the entire community.

Live a Little is a Swedish coming-of-age road drama directed by Fanny Ovesen. I play Alex in a leading role, a young woman travelling through Europe with her best friend Laura. The film is a seven-country co-production, filmed in the Czech Republic, Germany, France and Poland, and screened internationally. It received four Guldbagge Award nominations and won awards in Lübeck, Biarritz and Gothenburg.

The film premiered in competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where it won the Best Actor Award, FIPRESCI Award and Europa Cinemas Label Award. It later won three Guldbagge Awards for Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.

The performance explores war, love, memory and the power of storytelling, inspired by research on the transgenerational transmission of war experiences. Set in Rannebergen, the production explores ideas of utopia, inequality, community and the price of a seemingly perfect society. I am part of the ensemble in this contemporary and immersive stage production, created for audiences aged 11 and up.

I play Rory, a young woman who embarks on an Arctic journey following the death of her father. The 85-minute monologue was performed entirely in British English, for which I received accent coaching. The production explores grief, love, identity, adventure and climate change. Directed by Gary Whitaker.

Songs at the Edge of a Grey Sea is a tragicomic Finnish rural odyssey by Pipsa Lonka, produced as the 2023 graduation production by the Acting Programme at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg. I played Hilkka, a sensual and eccentric woman, sometimes childlike and moon-struck, in a small coastal community facing a devastating flood. Directed by Peter Elmers, the production explores ecology, community, human absurdity and our inability to act in the face of catastrophe.

Dr Galenos’ Miracle Medicine is a Swedish adaptation of Karel Čapek’s 1937 play The White Disease, produced by Teater Tribunalen and directed by Richard Turpin. Set in an authoritarian state during a global pandemic, the production explores war, power, fascism, morality and the human cost of political ambition. I played the Dictator, a warmongering authoritarian leader determined to start a war despite the ongoing pandemic.

Personal Circle 3:1 is a stage production based on Lars Norén’s acclaimed play, created during my second year at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg. I played The Girl, a young woman living on the margins of society, struggling with addiction, vulnerability and the desire for a different life. The production explores loneliness, human connection, social exclusion and the possibility of hope within difficult circumstances.

Stadsduvorna (The Pigeons) was my original solo project at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg, presented as part of Arrivals. This 40-minute monologue explores a late-night encounter between two outsiders that unfolds into a memory, a flashback, a dream and a confrontation with the things we choose to forget. The piece combined text with physical theatre and movement, and I created and performed it.

#WRU (Where Are You?) is an English-language monologue by Kristina Brändén Whitaker, produced by Gothenburg English Studio Theatre. I play Roija, a teenage aspiring YouTuber whose online world becomes a way of coping with her family’s crisis. The 60-minute solo performance explores identity, social media, bullying, communication and the difficulty of supporting those closest to us. The production toured schools around Sweden and was performed entirely in English.

I was part of the acting ensemble, which was awarded Best Acting Ensemble at Fram Film Festival. The film also won Startsladden, one of Sweden’s most prestigious awards for short film, celebrating emerging filmmakers and innovative Swedish short cinema.
